Haworth Music School Tour 2012
“Fighting Bullying and Depression With Music”
After much anticipation, the Haworth Music School Tour is now happening around the Illawarra in March 2012 and it’s all in the name of Music, Charity and Fun!!
After previously touring through many different schools in New South Walesand Victoriain 2011, Haworth’s Shellharbour Music Centre and Aussie pop-punkers The Conspiracy Plan are now taking this leg of the tour through their own backyard – The Illawarra NSW. With nearly a dozen schools booked so far for this stage of the tour, it is shaping up to be another hugely successful event for all those involved, including Make-A-Wish Australia and Youth Beyond Blue.
Both Wollongong High School of The Performing Arts and WoononaHigh Schoolwere the first stop on the Haworth Music School Tour. With WollongongHigh on Monday the 12th of March and Woonona High on Tuesday the 13th of March. Both shows proved to be an amazing success with literally hundreds of students flocking to see the performance on their lunch break. Students were dancing like crazy and wasted no time in snapping up the free give-aways from Haworth’s Music and The Conspiracy Plan. This is only the beginning though, with more schools on the tour’s schedule this month including Kiera High, Warilla High, Corpus Christie, Berkeley High, Albion Park High, Vincentia High, Kanahooka High and more to be confirmed!
General Manager of Haworth’s Music and Front-man for The Conspiracy Plan, Glenn Haworth founded the Haworth Music School Tour with the idea of creating high-school concerts to help promote music in schools, raise funds for Make-a-Wish Australia, to raise awareness for Youth Beyond Blue and to give the youth a positive message about life and how to overcome some of its challenges.
The show sees The Conspiracy Plan perform their original pop-punk tunes for the students, with a short talk from Glenn Haworth and Pam Rimmer from Make-a-Wish Foundation and some giveaways afterwards.
Haworth’s Shellharbour Music Centre will also be giving away one of four Legacy Guitar and Amplifier Packages to four lucky students from the School Tour. Students can enter the competition by going to haworthguitars.com and clicking on the School Tours tab on the website.
BothHaworth’s Music and The Conspiracy Plan donate their own time to this tour and do not perform for a fee. Gold coin donations and school donations made go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help grant wishes for terminally ill children.
If you haven’t heard about The Haworth Music School Tours yet, here is what one school had to say: “Since the performance I have heard only positive feedback from the students and teachers involved and look forward to the possibility of the band returning in the near future. I have no hesitation in recommending The Conspiracy Plan to other schools and wish them the best of luck in the future” – Hailey Barker, Music Teacher, Vincentia High School.

Kiama Jazz and Blues festival is on this weekend with some awesome entertainment over Friday, Saturday and Sunday from both local and national artists. Some great acts to check out over the weekend are; local young guitar legend James Vann, Mercury Bluescope Band Comp winners Tommy M and The Mastersounds, Funk man Luke Koteras, Internationally renowned guitarist Michael Fix and local legends The Stingers. With plenty more radical acts to keep you entertained.
Michael Fix is coming to town to wow us with his incredible guitar playing skills and will be appearing at Haworth’s Shellharbour Music Centre on Saturday 10/3/2012 for a short performance and signing. He will also be performing at Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival on the coming weekend.
Jamberoo Pub have been booking some awesome acts lately and I got the chance to see Glenn Shorrock recently over dinner. It was an awesome night with young James Vann opening and wowing the crowd with his insane fingerpicking guitar work. The Pub has also just announced that Tim Freedman will be making an appearance soon! I can see those tickets getting snapped up very quick!
The Haworth Music School Tour is set for the Illawarra leg which starts on Monday March 12th and will go until the end of the month. Over 12 Illawarra high schools will get a visit from my old pop-punk buddies and I in The Conspiracy Plan as well as our team at Haworth’s Music. We will be performing for the students while raising funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation, promoting Youth Beyond Blue and talking to the students about their own direction after school. The tour is something we love doing and is a fun way to promote music in schools.
Tip of the week: Drummers – we know you love to smack the bejesus out of your drum kit so hard that you get that ringing in your ears, but do your neighbours complain about the noise? Are you sick of getting asked to drum quieter from your parents, girlfriend, or guitarist? Get an Electric Drum Kit and you can rock some Def Lep without annoying anyone. Put on the headphones or jam with your band and just go through the PA system. Better quality Electric Kits can also be used to perform with too, which is a bonus for us lazy muso’s who don’t like carting around too much gear!

January is usually a quiter time of year for us at Haworth’s, so Phil and me decided to take a trip over to sunny California for The Namm Show.
The Show is a massive international trade show for the music industry held over four days every year in Anaheim California, limited to artists, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers.
